# The Experimentation Process

This section outlines a summary of the experimentation process which was presented and adapted as a capacity building initiative in 2018, with faculty from Mobility Lab, Wonderlab and XYX Lab of Monash University.

The experimentation approach we explored is not a methodology. Intentionally, it doesn’t have a tightly defined process or set of methods. Instead, it is rooted in a practice which is made up of a wide variety of tools, techniques, methods and are woven together as and when they are needed - much like cooking.

The important thing to note about a practice (like cooking), is that to get better at it, you need to practice.

So whilst I set out the process we explored in this field guide, it must be seen as an expression of this practice, rather than the way it must be done.

*Please feel free to adapt, augment, change the pace, the order, and make it your own.*

## The Format

The format of the capacity building initiative for each group was:

1. Half day workshop
2. 2x 3 hour coaching sessions
